Clefairy ! Pokemon One a Day!

Clefairy is our star of the day, and that's exactly what I tried to shape her as in terms of a visual standpoint! I know Clefairy and her kin are thought to be related from the moon in some way shape or form, so I wanted to add elements of that nature. Although she hasn't being official confirmed as one yet (at least to my knowledge), its pretty super duper unbelievably safe to say that she is a fairy type, so I wanted to go soft for this piece.

The draft started out very round, and I wanted to make her star shape, and have her float among the stars herself. However, as I kept buidling up the work, she began to resemble her babyself, Cleffa. I looked up Cleffa and saw they were still different enough in appearance, and simply stretched out my Clefairy vertically to separate the visual similarity in their round shapes.

Now that the start shape, still there but less noticable had suffered in my attempt to incorporate a lunar theme, I looked for another way to do that. By taking the simple oval blush she had in her original rendition, I turned those into smaller cresent moon shapes that complicated her eyes, which are more round than normal. When it came to giving her a color, it was choosing either a pink or beige color that she's been interpretted as. I chose a color right in the middle, a tannish salmon that danced with neon blue and green lights illuminating around her.

I played with making her fly but the pose and concept was too similar to Squirtle, so I rotated her a bit and had her stand on the floor, reaching out a ...star...Crap. That doesn't make sense!

Neither does the fact that she uses metronome and can spit out fireblast one second and use explosion the next. So yeah, excuse that minor detail!
