Description

Only one organization could create such abominations and bring them about the world…Yes, Team Rocket is by and large responsible for the genetic modifications and birth of Pokemon fusions! During the Mewtwo project, a rogue sect of the development team went about to utilize Team Rocket’s vast resources and funds to entertain their dark visions. As if Mewtwo wasn't enough, these scientists continued to splice genetic codes from their already large collection of specimen to create a new set of abominations…And this is one of them.

Rhyzard (Rhydon + Charizard)
Volcanic Dozer Pokemon
Type: Dragon/Fire
Ability: Pressure
Height: 7' 4"
Weight: 582 lbs

Moveset:

Inferno
Horn Drill
Earthquake
Dragonbreath

ROCKET DEX:
Team Rocket continued to develop their super powered mutations, and one by one add to the repertoire of demons that did their bidding on their behalf. After some time, gaining experience by their trial and error procedures, Team Rocket sought to create their strongest fusion yet - Enter Rhyzard.

Charizard, largely a dragonic creature without the actual dragon type visible in its current genetic code, is fused with Rhydon, a behemoth of a pokemon with a devastating drill weapon and undeniably thick iron hide for protection. Rhyzard is the product of the unlocking of the dragon type in Charizard, and outfitting the creature in Rhydon's unique body armor. Thus, the fusion is largely Charizard in nature and form. However, Rhyzard towers over its counterparts and weighs a lot more in correlation. The Pokemon is slower, but far stronger and resilient. High HP, grossly overpowered physical and special stats, and a fortress like defense is a great trade for agility.

As a dragon type, Rhyzard brings out a ferociousness that surpasses Charizard's. This rage translates into brutal physical attacks, including using Rhydon's signature horn to tear and shred. The horn can easily drill into diamond. Rhyzard uses his horn to break through rocks and boulders, which it consumes if it does not have a proper meal lined up. The stomach acids and internal heat melts it quickly. From there, it can create "bullets" that are launched out of its hands in the same manner how Rhypherior fires rock shots.

Since it weighs so much, it has lost its ability of flight. However, there is also a practical reason as to why it still has wings; it uses them to cool itself off. Because its hide is so thick, its insulated to quite the degree. Due to its internal temperature escalating from eating rocks and turning them essentially into magma, it is constantly under stress which adds to its nature of being vicious. The hotter it is, the more largely lit its flame will be, which is indicitave of how strong(and even at its base strength is stronger than a Dragonite's hyper beam, damn son!) its flame breath will be.

Like Mewtwo wearing armor, Rhyzard was given an external piece in the form of a helmet. This is to protect its head from pieces of rock and general debris from its horn drill attack. The rest of the body needed no armor since Rhydon's hide is more than enough. It took quite some time to map out where the hide would rest over the Charizard body as key locations such as keeping the neck, wings, and tail free were vital.

Personal Commentary

The moment you've been waiting for if you've been following my pokemon fusions...A Charizard feature! Charizard is arguably one of the most popular creatures out there, and I wanted to do something special! I saw a lot of charizard + marowak fusions, which look amazing, but I wanted to go another route and find a fitting monster to fit it with...The two primary candidates were Nidoking And Rhydon...And I quickly went with Rhydon when I realized I could outfit armor over Charizard. Nidoking would end up getting fused with Tauroos who ended up with a successful fusion (see below to find a link for that one). Coincidentally, this Rhyzard's helmet looks like Marowak but is supposed to resemble Rhydon's head with the little bits sticking out by the mouth.
Anyway, my first attempt on Rhyzard was drawing from theoriginal sprite, but I didn't like how it was coming out. I looked for other Charizard sprites and found one I liked, so this picture is referenced from that one.
As I built up the concept, I showed a few friends and my brother the direction I was taking it in for feedback. All parties told me how it looked like a Digimon, and specifically WarGreymon...And Wargreymon is badass so I don't mind the connection :) I remember people would joke that there was a Charizard underneath all that armor back in primary school!

I suppose it might be a dealbreaker that the creature looks less Pokemon but these are Pokemon fusions, so they are abominations in the first place haha.

I hope you enjoyed the art and story!
